Pack your indoor shoes and head to the ball sports hall of Otahalli every Thursday from 1.9. onwards at 21-22! There you will be able to play badminton or basketball with TiK and other PT members.

All the most important announcements and news about the association will be posted in the channel from now on, for example about events and the summary of the weekly newsletter sent by email. Dear members of Prosessiteekkarit! It is again the time of the year when you can bring your loved ones to enjoy the sitsi culture of Otaniemi. Whether you bring your friend, mother, or your grandfather, prepare yourself for an unforgettable evening.
Sign-up for the event opens at PT’s registration machine (http://www.prosessiteekkarit.fi/ilmo/event/183) on Friday 25.11. at 12.00 and closes on Sunday 4.12. at 23.55. The sign-up becomes binding after closing.
Please be prepared to fill in the sign-up information for both yourself and your guest (name, special diets, drink choices). There is a possibility to purchase drink tickets along with the sign-up, if you want to enjoy more drinks in addition to the ones served during the course of the sitsit. Payment details will be sent to registrants after closing. The person who registers pays for themself and their guest.
This event does not have an afterparty.

10. [New] Master’s major sauna 9.12.
Do you agonize over choosing your major for Master’s? Do you not know what choice is the best one for you?
Come to listen to students’ views and experiences from different CHEM Master’s majors at Ossinsauna on 9th of December from 6PM onward. In the event, there is an opportunity to go to a sauna and have free FOOD! Remember to take an open mind and your own towel with you to the event, the most prepared sauna-goers also take some cash with them.

11. [New] New online course “Wood material science” starts 10.1.2023
CHEM-E2225 Wood Material Science (5 cr) course is organized for the first time in the online format in spring 2023. You may follow the course independently whenever it is suitable for you during III period 10.1. – 14.2.2023. The course includes short videos, texts, exercises and online exams. 12. [New] Independence Day Torchlight Procession for students of the Helsinki Metropolitan Area 6.12.
The student unions of the Capital Region are celebrating Independence Day together, just like last year. This year, students will join the procession for student wellbeing and mental health. The event is organised by the student unions of the Capital Region: HYY, AYY, ArtSU, SHS, Kadettitoverikunta, Metka and Helga.
The procession is filled with festive atmosphere and light in the spirit of the forward-looking student movement. Put on your student’s / teekkaricap and weather-appropriate outerwear. We recommend that flagbearers and heralds wear dark clothing, but the dress code for everyone else is ‘come as you are’!
The festivities begin with the placing of wreaths at Sankariristi at the Hietaniemi cemetery at 4 pm. The procession starts off from the Hietaniemi Chapel at the cemetery at around 5 pm, and its route is as follows: Hietaniemenkatu – Arkadiankatu – Pohjoisesplanadi – Presidential Palace – Mariankatu – Aleksanterinkatu – Senate Square. The President of the Republic greets the procession from the Palace balcony.
A public celebration is held at the Senate Square from around 5.55 pm to 6.15 pm. The programme includes choral singing and the speeches of Mayor and representatives of the student unions.
The event is open to everyone, and you can join the procession even if you do not belong to any student organisation. We warmly welcome you all!

14. Pre-Christmas Party of the Village 10.12.
It’s time to start getting ready for Christmas, as Campus Section and Otahoas will organize the traditional pre-Christmas Party of the Village on Saturday, 10 Dec. The event begins with a cocktail party in the cozy premises of the Museum of Student Life from 6.30 onwards. Afterward, we will head to Rantasauna to enjoy Christmassy entertainment and food and drinks prepared by the village elves.
The pre-Christmas Party program also includes Christmassy activities, the announcement of the Campus Section’s competition winners, the gift of the Campus Section to Teekkari Village, live music, a sauna, and cozy evening entertainment!

17. [New] FBI-day 25.1.
The classic and legendary FBI-day (Forest Based Industries) is back!
Current and future professionals of bioforest industry get together in Oulu on 25.1.2023. We will leave to Oulu on Tue 24.1. and head back home on Thu 26.1., so the trip is two nights long this year!
The FBI-day starts off in Radisson Blu Hotel Oulu with a seminar with the topic of diversification of the forest-based industry or “Growing new branches in forest-based industry”. In the afternoon it is time for the versatile and comprehensive business exhibitions, in which the business presenters introduce their firms. Also, the young bioforest industry enthusiasts are able to check out the job market for the next summer and ask questions from the presenters. After the formal part it is time for the social evening and the evening entertainment. So, come have a productive and networking -filled working life day!
The event is free for students and includes transportation and overnight stays. The event will be held in English. The event is open to all CHEM students.

Aalto University’s mixed choir Dominante warmly welcomes you to the atmospheric Christmas concerts Joulun tähden! The program includes the most beloved Christmas tunes, traditional Dominante Christmas repertoire and some new acquaintances. The choir is conducted by Seppo Murto.
Baritone soloist Juhana Kotilainen and organist Arttu Selonen will participate in the Christmas concerts.

Are you looking for an interesting and meaningful project for next year? Do you want a chance to create and pursue your own ideas in research?
We are now recruiting Aalto University and University of Helsinki BSc and MSc students to form a new iGEM team to represent Finland in the world’s largest synthetic biology competition, iGEM, held next year in Paris. The Aalto-Helsinki team will design, develop and execute their own research project from scratch and present their results in the Grand Jamboree in October 2023.

What’s iGEM?
Being a part of an iGEM team allows you to plan your own research project from scratch in three phases. In spring, you will get to know your team members and decide on the project you will try to develop during the summer. The team will also reach out to companies and gather funding. In autumn, you will present your project and compete with other iGEM teams for the Grand Prize, as well as other Track and Special Awards.
